Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Description

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its billing and reimbursement team. This role supports timely and accurate billing and collections for services across multiple healthcare lines, including Home Infusion, Skilled Nursing, Home Health, Hospice, and Home Medical Equipment. The position offers a collaborative environment with potential for long-term placement and growth.

Responsibilities

Maintain patient accounts by posting charges, payments, and adjustments.Contact patients regarding unpaid medical bills and negotiate payment plans or settlements.Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve disputes and facilitate timely payments.Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on aging reports and unpaid claims.Maintain accurate records of patient interactions and payment history.Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid regulations and insurance contracts.Utilize billing and accounting software to manage workflows and documentation.Communicate effectively with internal teams and external payers to resolve billing issues.Support continuous improvement in billing processes and reimbursement strategies.

Essential Skills

2+ years of recent accounts receivable experience in a healthcare setting.Strong understanding of medical billing, collections, and reimbursement practices.Familiarity with insurance contracts and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.Experience with Epic or similar billing platforms.Coursework or training in medical front office or billing preferred.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Candidates residing in AK, WA, MT, OR, CA, TX, or NM are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment

This is a remote contract position with potential for conversion based on performance and location within the organization’s footprint states. The team fosters a supportive and collaborative culture focused on accuracy and efficiency.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $14.50 - $20.84/hr.
