Medicaid Specialist

Position Summary: 

The Long-Term Care Medicaid Specialist is responsible for assisting with Medicaid eligibility processes for current and prospective residents. This role ensures timely and accurate Medicaid applications, redeterminations, and compliance with Maryland Medicaid regulations. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the Maryland Medical Assistance Program and experienced in long-term care admissions, billing, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities: 

· Assist residents and families with Medicaid applications, spend-downs, and redeterminations. 

Coordinate with the Business Office, Admissions, and Social Services to ensure complete and timely Medicaid submissions. 

· Verify eligibility and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines. 

· Track and follow up on pending Medicaid cases; maintain an organized case log. 

· Liaise with the Maryland Department of Health, local DSS offices, and other agencies as needed. 

· Respond to Medicaid-related inquiries from residents, families, and staff. 

· Ensure accurate entry of Medicaid coverage in billing systems. 

· Maintain confidentiality of resident records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. 

Qualifications: 

· High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, or a related field preferred. 

· Minimum 2 years of experience in long-term care, Medicaid eligibility and application processing. 

· Strong working knowledge of Maryland Medicaid regulations and processes. 

· Proficiency in electronic billing systems (e.g., PointClickCare, HPP, EVS, MMIS) preferred. 

· Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills. 

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
