Media Innovation Assistant Manager
Job Description

This role is categorized as HYBRID. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM - Cadillac Tower three times per week, at minimum. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.


The Innovation Assistant Manager performs a key role in positioning General Motors as a leader in shaping the media landscape. The selected candidate will build and maintain a roadmap for continuous media innovation.  This person will collaborate with in-house media activation, brand media leads, Global markets, research, analytics, and audience teams to ensure new media/innovation opportunities are vetted and developed for future scalability.  This is a great opportunity for someone capable of bringing big-picture thinking to drive GM media innovation, while also being able to get tactical and move ideas forward from concept to reality!

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Identify and explore emerging media themes to enable future success and competitive advantages, both in the US and Globally.Support GM’s day-to-day input on current and future innovative media vendor relationships including defining key partners, setting up and leading regular touchpoints, communicating GM media innovation priorities and organizing cross-functional engagements.Develop innovation learning agenda, manage innovation budget, identify tests across brands and global markets, help activate campaigns, and work with analytics and research to drive insights and inform future strategyCollaborate across projects with multiple internal teams such as the Brand Media leads, GM Research, Analytics, Legal, Purchasing, etc.Create frameworks and toolkits that will allow both the US and global markets to leverage the innovation opportunitiesCreate and support the development of presentations for C-suite leadership teamsWork closely with industry groups and associations (ANA, WFA) to drive thought leadership that helps shape the future of the media ecosystem

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related field preferred5+ years of experience in paid media and/or digital marketing; agency and/or automotive experience preferredSkilled in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelProven experience leading external relationships with media partnersAbility to manage complex initiatives requiring the input of multiple stakeholdersAbility to listen to and understand the needs of internal/external stakeholders and in turn develop thoughtful solutionsDesire to remain current in the media space through ongoing education and skill developmentExcellent time management skills – the ability to effectively and efficiently use your time to focus on the most impactful activities and challenge those that distract from the identified goalAbility to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining graceful under pressureProactive self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a teamAbility to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
