**What we’re looking for:**
The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all area work coordinators across all operational areas. This role ensures seamless execution of work while handling administrative and contractor management tasks. The Mechanical Superintendent serves as a critical link between maintenance functions, capital projects, and turnaround efforts. This role will drive vision, provide direction, set priorities, and lead the area work coordinator teams site-wide across multiple PSM manufacturing units on their journey to achieve World-Class Maintenance and Reliability Performance based on benchmarked industry standards at Indorama’s Port Neches Site.
The Mechanical Superintendent manages asset reliability risks, contributes technical equipment assistance, supports improvement programs, and provides mechanical maintenance for all assets. The role ensures production equipment reliability to enable manufacturing processes to meet requirements related to safety, production volume, cost, and quality. It supports production OEE expectations by completing PM schedules and corrective maintenance work.
Direct reports include 9 Area Work Coordinators. This position reports to the Site Work Execution Manager.
**What will be expected from you?**
+ Manage Area Work Coordinators to ensure effective execution of maintenance and any projects requiring support.
+ Drive effective and efficient maintenance with a high level of productivity and output across all Area Work Coordinator teams.
+ Manage direct reports through ADP and Workday systems.
+ Organize training and development for team members.
+ Managing and assigning Intelex and KMS systems for direct reports, including running reports and handling incident investigations or action items.
+ Oversee nested contractors, including EPR approvals, overtime, and call-outs.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical contractor-related matters.
+ Attend and participate in safety meetings, planning meetings, and other relevant site discussions.
+ Serve as the primary mechanical maintenance contact between capital projects and turnaround teams who may require support.
+ Address any overdue PMs.
+ Support implementation of Innovapptive’s Connected Worker and other key initiatives as identified.
+ Provide overall leadership and direction to Area Work Coordinators for the safe and effective execution of work. This includes routine [PM's], turnaround [ planned large scale activities], and outage [major emergency] maintenance.
+ Work with Planning and Scheduling team to ensure quality work packages, provide regular feedback for improvement opportunities.
+ Maintains records, prepares reports, manages work orders, and composes correspondence related to the work.
+ Visits work sites to assure crafts have the resources they need to complete the job in a quality fashion.
+ Assures contractors are performing at the right level of work and at the right quality of work.
+ Backfills and provides extra support for Work Coordinators as needed.
+ Helps prioritize competing break-in/emergency support with available resources.
+ Audits work to assure all tasks that require completion in compliance with code or related standards is done correctly.
+ Tracks various KPIs. Creates and presents various reports as needed.
+ Ensures all activities are in full compliance with all applicable EH&S guidelines and protocols. Assure that EH&S concerns take precedence and first priority. Conducts and facilitates Safety and other programs as needed and takes steps to assure safety corrective actions are completed.
+ Assures crafts have the training, tools, methods, and procedures to complete their work safety and efficiently.
+ Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).
+ Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives. Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
+ Attends Union meetings as needed.
+ Institutionalize best practices in the Work Management Processes (WMP) supported by a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other associated tools.
+ Drive improvement programs that achieve a more proactive work management process and a stronger relationship between maintenance and operations.
+ Implement Standard Work across Work Coordinators and Specialists.
+ Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
+ Contribute with managerial and leadership expertise to events that impact the safety, health and environmental performance of the site. Lead in the promotion of a strong safety and environmental stewardship culture.
+ Participate in and complete company-required training programs.
+ Ensure good engineering practices that meet NFPA standards are followed.
+ Provide support for PSM, MIQA and SIS initiatives.
+ Ensure area MIQA systems meet the requirements of OSHA Process Safety.
+ Provide support for the PNO Reliability Team and CAPEX initiatives.
+ Support PNO Reliability efforts in root cause analysis, ensuring technicians and supervisors are recording equipment history, creating corrective notifications, entering feedback codes, understanding loss elimination, risk management, life cycle asset management, and Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs.
+ Work with project engineering and technical management to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. Participate by providing resources, criteria for the evaluation of equipment, information on technical MRO suppliers and information on technical maintenance service providers.
+ Develop a strong cost management structure for Maintenance that identifies improvement opportunities including both short and long term actions to reduce/optimize cost.
+ Participate in budgeting activities, review costs and expenses and strive for continuous improvement maintenance costs. Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/re-design, and make/buy decisions.
+ Provide support as needed for Turnaround (TAR) planning and execution.
**What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?**
+ Associate degree with instrument or electrical focus, instrument or electrical apprenticeship, and 4 years of experience **OR** 8+ years of specific instrument or electrical experience.
+ Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
+ Able to monitor the manufacturing areas 24/7 including areas that require climbing ladders and accessing scaffolding.
+ SAP experience is beneficial but not required.
+ Must have high technical and analytical abilities to handle operational problems and plant compliance concerns with quick diagnosis and prompt decisions.
+ Must have the ability to motivate and influence people. Good communication and diplomacy skills as this position will work with employees at multiple levels of the organization.
