Job Summary
KBR is seeking an experienced, highly self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Rapid Prototyping Group. In this role you will have the opportunity to create mechanical designs and drawings to quickly meet the needs of our customers, in advance of formal technical data packages. The successful candidate must be able to work with limited direction and generate the necessary technical documentation to meet minimum air worthiness requirements for United States Department of Defense rotorcraft and/or fixed wing aircraft. This documentation could include 3D Models, Mechanical Assembly Drawings, Structural Loads Analyses, Weight and Balance Reports, etc.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and document complete mechanical integration designs, within short time frames, that meet the customer’s requirements.Utilizing mechanical lab test equipment, reverse engineering existing legacy mechanical assemblies and models to determine necessary design changes.Generation of supporting Mechanical Engineering analyses.Work with the manufacturing shop floor technicians to build and test generated designs.Report on the status of assigned projects to the Rapid Prototype Project Lead and Chief Engineer.Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and a minimum of 10 years’ experience, with a minimum of 3 years in rapid prototyping.Minimum of 10 years’ experience using Computer Aided Drafting to create mechanical models and assemblies.Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, etc.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in generation of Structural Loads AnalysesMinimum of 5 years’ experience in generation of aircraft Weight and Balance ReportsMinimum of 10 years' experience with Configuration Management software such as SolidWorks PDM.Understanding of US Military Aerospace, ASME, and SAE Standards as they relate to Mechnical Design.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the creation and management of Bills of Materials.Existing United States Department of Defense Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mechanical system design of United States Army rotorcraftExperience utilizing SolidWorks to document mechanical system designsExperience utilizing AutoCADExperience in performing Finite Element Analyses of Aerospace systems.Belong, Connect and Grow at KBR
