The Role
SRG has a career opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer at our Cameron Park (Newcastle) office in NSW. Your role will provide engineering support to the Project Manager for our client outages. It will require analysis and reporting of inspection, NDT, and metallurgical results to provide commercially viable engineering advice to our clients.
Further, the role may also require project management of smaller power site outages and/or leading a small team of people, as individual expertise develops.
You will gain broad exposure in diverse operations while seeing the impact of your recommendations in sound decision-making. Additionally, you will assist engineers during the preparation, inspection, technical assessment, evaluation, and reporting stages of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Power Station Outages:
Being part of an inspection team conducting equipment inspections, writing technical reports for such, and providing recommendations to maintain client asset integrity. Compliance with pressure equipment regulations for our clients during outages. Conduct reviews and implement maintenance and/or improvement solutions to enhance equipment performance. Mentor the inspection team and engineering staff to provide quality, technically correct advice for our clients. Liaise with our NDT and Metallurgy teams on these projects. Support the project manager in their duties, including but not limited to safety, quality, and commercial aspects of the projects. Represent the business at relevant client meetings during the Outages.Engineering Consultancy:
Conduct high-level root cause analysis (RCA) for asset failures using asset performance management software. Identifying the root cause of equipment failures and subsequently eliminating these failure modes. Coordinating risk-based inspection assessments to minimise client impact and optimise production capability. Proactively identify opportunities to extend shutdown intervals and service campaigns of critical equipment to maximise client asset utilisation. Analyse client plant performance data to successfully identify, prioritise, and implement reliability improvement initiatives.The successful applicant will ideally have:
Bachelor of Engineering – preferably mechanical Previous experience in a similar role. Analytical strengths, with good problem-solving skills. Good communication skills at all levels (both written and verbal). Ability to work both individually and as part of a highly skilled team. Excellent time management, prioritisation, problem solving, and organisation skills, but also adaptable. Dynamic, self-motivated, results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and willingness to learn. Experience in the preparation of reports. Be proactive in upholding compliance with company safety and quality objectives.About Us:
