For over 60 years, the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has supported the Navy’s mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. As a coded leader, you will manage definition, interpretation, and implementation of design requirements, task delegation, coordination and execution of hardware designs, development and integration of hardware custom and procured hardware and systems in accordance with engineering process specifications. Ensure designs adhere to Common Integrated Processes as documented in Command Media, and drive process improvement into the design culture. Provide solution based technical mentoring to improve program performance and to drive error free design using proven tools, processes and predictive measures.

Work collaboratively with the program and functional senior leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments and rotations to sustain engineering capabilities and critical skills; and drive performance management, career development, and personnel related activities. Ensure SSC’s standard technical processes and tools, best practices, and training are available and properly implemented on the program.

• Lead a team of first line leaders and engineers who are the primary technical authority.
• Maintain full ownership of the cost, schedule, and technical execution for all work scope within your organization.
• Drive collaboration between your team and other adjacent organizations such as Systems Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Flight Sciences, NG&C, etc. to ensure appropriate technical rigor is always achieved in a timeline that supports program commitments.
• Develop and maintain close customer relationships to foster partnership in all outcomes.
• Provide senior level leadership and engagement to a wide range of critical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure product deliveries are upheld with the appropriate level of technical rigor.
• Maintain full command over program priorities and schedules and hold your team accountable to achieve key milestones and deliver value.
• Reinforce the “Design for Manufacturability” mindset throughout the organization and drive outcomes to achieve efficient and affordable AUR production.
• Regularly presenting technical status and issue resolution to program leadership, customers, and other applicable stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop technical talent in collaboration with the Propulsion, Energetics & Life Support Talent Center (PELS TC) functional organization. Foster a culture of technical excellence with a laser focus on production support.
Basic Qualifications:
•Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
•Fundamental understanding of propulsion aerospace hardware systems and processes
•Experience with aerospace flight hardware design, analysis, manufacture. or test and integration
•Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
•Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
•US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
•Experience with requirement development and management
•Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution
•Ability to manage multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and independently
Desired Skills:
•10+ years of progressive experience in the design, development, and integration of complex aerospace or defense systems
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering
•Schedule/planning experience
•Experience Guiding the successful completion of major programs and functioning in a project leadership role.
•Full Spectrum Leadership experience and training
•Cost account management (CAM) experience
•Experience with risk management and mitigation strategies.
•Hardware experience, including design, analysis, assembly, Integration and Test.
•Knowledgeable at a systems level in the areas of stress, propulsion, harness routing, strength of materials, subcontracts, electrical design/analysis, software, transportation, and launch operations.
•Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and tools.
•Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers.
•Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE’s)
•Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
•Demonstrated experience with DFX principals
•Experience operating through the full lifecyle development process with an emphasis on development, production, and sustainment

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $144,600 - $255,070. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
