This Position reports to: Production Engineering Supervisor - ELSB Canada 

 

The Mechanical Engineer works at our manufacturing facility for emergency lighting products and printed circuit boards. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, their primary responsibility is to develop, modify, and improve the mechanical designs of our active emergency lighting products. Collaborating with operational teams, they oversee the validation of designs and the maintenance of product performance, providing technical support for the mechanical design of our products. They ensure prompt intervention and aim to implement sustainable solutions to the challenges encountered 

 

 

Your Role: Own the Challenge   

Manage various projects related to the modification, improvement, and updating of our mechanical designs. 

Design new solutions for unique customer orders. 

Support operational teams with the mechanical requirements and specifications of active products. 

Understand and apply internal processes, applicable standards, and performance requirements for our products. 

Ensure adherence to deadlines, budgets, and project quality. 

Align with ABB's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your actions while caring for your colleagues and the company. 

Design engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations, in accordance with contractual specifications. 

Create or review engineering drawings, specifications, and plans required for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction. 

Contribute to design reviews and design verification, modifying designs as necessary. 

Participate in project meetings and present specific aspects of design assignments. 

Coordinate with Manufacturing and Testing functions to ensure that designs are appropriately manufactured, staged, and tested. 

 

 

What it takes to run what runs the world 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; OIQ membership preferred. 

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanical or mechatronic design engineer. 

Proficiency in Creo and AutoCAD software -- Experience in the lighting industry is an asset. 

 Knowledge of mechanical and thermal stress analysis software. 

Collaborative and proactive, with a focus on solutions and strong communication skills. 

Excellent command of French and English (written and spoken). French is required. English is also required to regularly communicate with clients outside Quebec. 

Project management knowledge is an asset.
