**Description** The Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of HVAC and plumbing projects primarily for aviation, government, and military facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting HVAC and plumbing plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. + Perform HVAC and plumbing design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, covering various HVAC and plumbing systems: air-side/duct design, chilled and condenser water, heating hot water, steam, HVAC controls, domestic water, sanitary waste and vent and compressed gases. + Lead and perform HVAC load calculation and energy modeling calculations and life cycle cost analyses (LCCA) with IESVE or similar software (Trane Trace, Energy Pro, etc). + Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects primarily focusing on aviation, government, and military facilities but also including power plants, industrial, life science, and commercial facilities. + Exhibits understanding of and successfully applies in project planning and design federal design guidelines: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS). + Applies strong knowledge of commonly used HVAC and plumbing engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the HVAC and plumbing engineering services industry: ASHRAE, ASPE, Title 24, IMC, and the IPC. + Design HVAC and plumbing components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. + Lead development of design documents in CAD software (Revit and AutoCAD). + Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. + Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for design projects. + Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. + Performs other duties as assigned + Complies with all policies and standards **Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Plumbing and HVAC experience preferred. OR + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Plumbing and HVAC experience preferred. OR + Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience required.
