We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The role involves preparing design substantiation packages for FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval applications, developing part and tool drawings for airworthy flight hardware using CAD software, and assisting in the development of manufacturing processes. You will interact with various departments regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, and inspection methods, and handle the disposition of non-conforming materials. The role also includes preparing design changes and responding to field inquiries related to FAA-PMA parts.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare design substantiation packages for FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval applications in accordance with Standard Procedure SP004 and the Design Manual.Develop part and tool drawings for airworthy flight hardware using CAD software.Assist in the development of manufacturing processes for airworthy flight hardware.Interact with quality, supply chain departments, and suppliers regarding drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, and inspection methods.Handle the disposition of non-conforming materials in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS), analyzing non-conformance for fit, function, safety, and reliability.Prepare design changes for part drawing, tool drawings, and specifications in accordance with Standard Procedure SP 003.Respond to field inquiries from customers and operators relating to FAA-PMA parts.
Essential SkillsProficiency in Solidworks and CAD design.Understanding of aerospace manufacturing and engineering principles.Experience with non-conforming parts and engineering changes.Skills in reverse engineering, redesigning legacy parts, and aerospace engineering.Proficiency in 3D modeling, troubleshooting, and project design.Experience with engineering change orders, quality assurance, validation verification, and sustainable design.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.2-4 years of experience in aerospace, mechanical design, and/or manufacturing.Experience with standard drawing conventions and GD&T.Proficiency in technical writing related to design disclosure and requests for government approval.Familiarity with aircraft engine components, controls & accessories, and/or aircraft interiors.Proficiency in structural, thermal, and modal analysis of mechanical components; Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience preferred.Knowledge of aerospace materials, processes, and coatings.Understanding of conventional aerospace manufacturing methods such as milling, turning, grinding, lapping, and more.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06/hr.
