Kforce Inc. is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to support our enterprise technology client in Austin, TX or Rochester, MN. Our client is hiring a mechanical design engineer to join the team behind the world's #1 and #3 supercomputers-Summit and Sierra. This role involves developing mechanical models, prototyping hardware, releasing design changes to manufacturing, and evaluating hardware for improvements. The Mechanical Engineer will work in a multi-functional environment balancing requirements across thermal, acoustic, elctro-magnetic-compatibility (EMC), structure, safety, industrial design, cost, and performance. Responsibilities: * Carry product development from concept to release * Design mechanical components and systems * Perform mechanical analysis including tolerance, clash, and FEA * Use CAD tools for modeling (Solidworks preferred) * Navigate manufacturing processes and materials (sheet metal, plastics, casting, machining, finishes) * Create BoMs, product structures, and engineering changes * Develop mechanical models through engagement with team leads and expanded team * Update rapid prototype critical hardware * Release design changes to manufacturing and evaluate hardware for design improvements
