Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support high-profile U.S. Navy weapon systems projects. This role involves supporting the Navy Program Manager responsible for Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at TRIDENT Submarine Bases, primarily at Kings Bay, Georgia, and Bangor, Washington. The position is crucial in developing projects from concept to operational stages, focusing on mechanical system requirements, HVAC load estimates, and facility documentation.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop conceptual mechanical system requirements, estimated HVAC loads, and facility requirements documentation.Provide technical peer reviews of architectural/engineering design submittals.Support the development of Facilities Design Criteria and Facilities Evaluation Testing Criteria.Conduct constructability reviews of construction design documentation.Prepare engineering study reports and make recommendations to solve facility issues.Apply knowledge of HVAC-related equipment to select effective system types for facility design.Provide input to comprehensive MILCON documentation and preliminary construction cost estimates.Generate correspondence to internal/external customers, government property administrators, and architectural/engineering personnel.Prepare presentations for internal/external peers and customers.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program.At least eight years of related/relevant professional work experience.Professional work experience with mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and gas & fluid distribution systems.Proficient with MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.Experience with building energy modeling software such as Trane Trace and Carrier HAP.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues and customers.Additional Skills & QualificationsDesire to attain a Professional Engineer License.Professional knowledge of ASHRAE Standards, ASME Codes, & International Mechanical Codes.Experience performing mechanical calculations for ventilation system sizing.Experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS).Experience in design, development, or implementation of MILCON facilities.Work Environment

The work environment is engineering-heavy, featuring a state-of-the-art Digital Engineering lab. The role may require a limited amount of travel to off-site locations and involves a moderate amount of correspondence and presentations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $86.53/hr.
