Job Description
The role involves designing custom gearing and enclosed gear units, performing dimensional layouts, gear geometry and gear rating calculations, as well as bearing life calculations. The position also requires preparing drawings and BOMs for the shop, reverse engineering gearboxes for rebuilds, and interfacing with customers and sales staff on product design.
ResponsibilitiesDesign custom gearing and enclosed gear units.Perform dimensional layouts.Calculate gear geometry and gear ratings.Conduct bearing life calculations.Prepare detailed drawings and BOMs for production.Reverse engineer gearboxes for rebuilds.Collaborate with customers and sales staff on product design.Essential SkillsProficiency in Solidworks and AutoCAD.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably BSME or BSMET.Minimum of 4 years’ experience in mechanical design.Experience in gear design geometric tolerance, gearbox rebuilds, or bearing life calculations.Proficiency in CAD (2D & 3D), preferably using Pro/E.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in new product development.Familiarity with lean manufacturing.Work Environment
The majority of work is conducted in an office setting, with approximately 5% of time spent on the manufacturing floor. The facility is a well-established manufacturing environment, providing the opportunity to gain valuable design experience supporting a crucial industry for manufacturing. Projects are confirmed for over 5 years, offering a stable and engaging work environment.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $53.00/hr.
