Mechanical Designer
CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Mechanical Designer. Type: Contract Job Title: Mechanical Designer Location: Wilmington, NC Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC Pay Rate: Based on experience Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm Education: Associate’s degree (AAS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering. Equivalent work experience may be considered. Description The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for creating and refining mechanical equipment designs and layouts using advanced CAD tools. This role involves producing detailed drawing packages, resolving design challenges, and ensuring compliance with established drafting standards. The Mechanical Designer will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and drafting teams to deliver high-quality solutions that optimize production systems and equipment performance. Requirements • Develop and deliver mechanical equipment designs and layouts using AutoCAD® 2023 and Inventor 2023 • Produce and maintain detailed drawing packages, build packages, machine part lists, illustrations, and equipment specifications • Assemble comprehensive machine design packages by reviewing and updating existing packages for accuracy • Redesign mechanical components to reduce installation costs, resolve equipment interferences, and correct design deficiencies • Review, redline, and oversee updates to installation documentation and drawings • Execute design changes to address equipment or process challenges • Perform elementary design calculations (e.g., statics, hydraulics, power transmission) to support both new and modified designs • Provide detailed sketches and marked-up drawings to support evolving project needs • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet project goals and performance requirements Required Qualifications Education • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering • Equivalent work experience may be considered Qualifications • 3–5 years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment • Proficiency with AutoCAD® 2023, Inventor 2023, and related CAD tools • Strong understanding of mechanical drive trains, actuators (pneumatic/electrical), and system integration • Experience preparing complete drawing packages for industrial equipment • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) • Ability to interpret pneumatic and electrical schematics • Familiarity with machining and fabrication processes • Experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures Additional Information • No third party resumes will be accepted • Drug testing and/or other employment-related inquiries may be conducted • CTG will consider for employment-qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of all applicable local, state, and federal laws • All interested individuals MUST be able to work on a W2 Tax basis (no C2C or third party vendors) • CTG is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer • CTG is an E-Verify Company To be considered for this opportunity, please apply directly through our website by clicking the link below or email your Word version resume and salary expectations to Laura.Dominguez@ctg.com.
