Mechanical Designer
**Description** **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include but are not limited to the following: + Ensure tasks are delivered on time and design practices are consistently applied. + Interface with design group and customers ensuring customer requirements are met and design intent is understood. + Must design to current safety standards and procedures as the job requires while providing feedback to improve processes. + Evaluate component sizes, weights, tolerances, and characteristics to meet design requirements and cost objectives. + Assist in analysis of development test results and suggestions from engineering meetings and implement the changes required. + Recommend improvements and incorporate necessary changes into robotic system designs. + Follow up on designs through the build process to create as build drawings. + Have a working knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic systems, mechanical drive systems, servo motors, conveyors, and robotics. + Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES** : + Experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD Design Software. + Machine design and drafting knowledge. + A good understanding of GD & T. + Strong analytical skills. + Ability to travel to customer locations. **EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE** : + College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Technician program with 5+ years of experience in a related field or a Mechanical Engineering Degree (preference will be given to those with automotive and/or appliance). + Must have experience working in a custom automation industry preferably in general goods, packaging, food industries **Qualifications** **Experience** **Required** + 3 years: Do you have a minimum of 3 years experience working in AutoCad + 5 years: Do you have a minimum of 5 years experience working in a custom automation industry?
