As a member of a multi-disciplined project team, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your designer background and/or technical experience in Mechanical Design.
Perform design of special-purpose, one-of-a-kind equipment including glove boxes, precision furnaces, hot cells, custom pressure vessels, and the associated controls and auxiliary systemsUnder the direction of the Mechanical Project Lead, develop drawings and/or 3D CAD models, while working on multi-disciplined design projectsWork on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of mechanical design issuesUtilize 2D and 3D CAD modeling software tools to generate design packagesParticipate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated design modelCoordinate and provide support to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design packageIndependently plan and execute design deliverables, such as general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawingsThere may be the opportunity to accompany and assist other designers and engineers in field walk downs and data gathering at client facilitiesDevelop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced designers by way of S&L’s systems of process and associated “Communities of Practice”Provide guidance to others in the development of less-experienced designers and drafters QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
Essential skills and experience:
Associates Degree from an accredited institution in a related field or equivalent experience8+ years of experience converting the designs of engineers into technical drawings or equivalent education and experienceProficiency with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar, to produce 2D and 3D drawings and modelsExperience in the review of mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating and developing the associated deliverablesAbility to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplinesValued but not required skills and experience:
