Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity at our West Milton facility. This role involves designing and building robotic cells and automation systems, requiring a strong background in mechanical design within automation and fabrication environments.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and layout robotic cells and automation systems using SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).Collaborate with project managers during quoting and development phases.Design mechanical fixtures, end-of-arm tooling, lighting, guarding, and camera systems.Support robotic installations, including upcoming projects at various facilities.Work closely with customers and vendors, including integration with Fanuc robots.Participate in hands-on assembly and testing of automation cells, with 30% field work and 70% design work.Travel occasionally to customer sites, approximately 5% of the time.Essential Skills5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, specifically in automation environments.Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) for mechanical design.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; Associate degree acceptable with 10+ years of hands-on experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in fabrication and machining environments is highly preferred.General awareness of CNC machines.Work Environment
The work environment is a small, close-knit team with currently 2 engineers at the West Milton site. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and offers flexible work hours, such as 6 AM–3 PM or 8 AM–5 PM, within a 40-hour work week. There is an emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, with exposure to a variety of projects and technologies.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $58.00/hr.
