Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing various welding equipment, fixtures, tooling, and functional quality inspection gauges. The role also involves designing automotive assembly equipment and utilizing SolidWorks for creating custom Automated Test and Assembly machines, ranging from simple dollies to complex weld cells. The position includes structural design, FEA analysis, and modifications for retrofitting existing robot weld cells. Interaction and interfacing with customers on design plans and updates will be required. Minimal travel of up to 5% is expected.
ResponsibilitiesDesign welding equipment, fixtures, and tooling.Create functional quality inspection gauges.Develop automotive assembly equipment.Utilize SolidWorks for custom Automated Test and Assembly machines.Perform structural design and FEA analysis.Modify existing robot weld cells for retrofit.Interact and interface with customers on design plans and updates.Essential SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D parametric design software.Strong mechanical aptitude.Prior experience with machine/equipment design.Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Experience with robotics.Additional Skills & QualificationsComputer programming skills for writing APIs for SolidWorks.Experience with Matlab or other analysis software.Work Environment
The work environment is a newly built facility, inaugurated in July 2021, located in Georgetown. It is one of the larger integrator facilities, well-lit, clean, and climate-controlled in most areas. The role involves working in both the machine shop and office environment, with duties performed in the office and on the shop floor. The workweek is Monday to Friday, roughly 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling a 45-hour workweek. Employees will be expected to get 'hands dirty' during their duties.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
