A Mechanical Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the Aerospace and Defence industry, ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest quality standards. At Quest Global we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for 3D modelling, conceptual design to Modelling, 2D modelling, Design to manufacturing, material selection, and concession/Non-conformance (identifying, documenting, and resolving any non-conformance issues that may arise during the manufacturing process). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to carry out design activities, investigate and analyse non-conformance reports, develop corrective actions, and implement effective solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out detail design activities to meet the requirements of design to manufacture Conduct thorough investigations of non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and failure mode analysis.Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to develop and implement design and corrective actions.Monitor and track the progress of corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness.Implement Drawing/ Definition Change RequestsMaintain accurate documentation of non-conformance reports, investigations, and corrective actions.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce non-conformance occurrences.Work Experience
Required Skills (Technical Competency):
Proficient in 3D CAD package for both modelling and drawing, ideally PTC CREO v7 and TEAMCENTER UNIFIEDMechanical engineering detailed design - first-hand experience of engineering design.Ability to develop and update Creo models and drawingsAbility to compile manufacturing drawings so BS8888 drawing standard with an understanding of TeamCenter Unified (TCU) PLM, to allow drawing and part sign-offAbility to interpret and create high quality engineering CAD models and manufacturing drawings, including GD&TExperience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear boxRequirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defence industry.Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear boxStrong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, BS8888)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
