The Engineering Technology group is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing proprietary process technologies and equipment for our manufacturing plants worldwide. Technologies can include; manufacturing RFID devices, precision coating, extrusion, thermal embossing, drying/curing, lamination and other web-based processes such as printing and label converting. This position will lead and/or support project execution through all phases, from concept design, to scale-up, to commercialization and requires close collaboration with vendors and Avery Dennison plants globally.
Responsibilities
Design and analyze complex mechanical and/or controls systems, with a focus on tight tolerance machine design and high-speed manufacturing systems.
Support and lead global projects that require mechanical design, controls engineering, and process expertise.
Inspect, install, and commission proprietary equipment and automation systems in manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Coordinate and manage resources, including outside vendors and Avery Dennison divisional personnel, to ensure that the equipment, processes, and automation solutions provided meet all requirements and specifications.
Design and test necessary prototypes/experiments in support of design and project objectives, including advanced automation concepts.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including control system specifications, schematics, and programming standards.
Potentially lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and project oversight.
Qualifications5+ years of relevant engineering industry experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. A Master's Degree is a plus.
Must possess strong mechanical design and/or controls/automation design skills, along with a deep understanding of process technology. Capable of taking complex projects from concept design through commercialization.
Demonstrated proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or Controls/Automation software (e.g., PLC programming environments, HMI design).
Good drafting skills; familiar with GD&T, ASME Y14.5 Standards (for mechanical focus).
Knowledge and experience in Finite Element Modeling for structural, heat transfer, and fluid flow analyzes a plus (for mechanical focus).
Knowledge and experience with industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, robotics, and sensors (for controls/automation focus).
Ability to work hands-on with equipment, machines, automation systems, and inspection devices.
Proven analytical mindset for overcoming complex engineering challenges and problems.
Must be willing and able to travel within the US and internationally.
Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and manage project teams effectively
Additional InformationThe salary range for this position is $100k - $130k / year.
