McCain Farms is looking for an experianced Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic to join our team. The role of the Licensed Mechanic is to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all diesel-powered trucks and transport equipment at McCain Farms through expert inspection, diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance, in alignment with industry best practices and safety regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension systems, HVAC, and hydraulic systems in farm transport vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, safety checks, and regulatory compliance inspections.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools and interpret technical data to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
• Complete all required paperwork, parts ordering, repair logs, and maintenance records accurately and promptly.
• Advise on needed repairs and maintenance schedules to supervisors and management.
• Mentor apprentices and contribute to workforce skill development.
• Adhere strictly to occupational safety, environmental, and McCain Farms operational policies.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform field repairs as required.
• Coordinate with service managers and other tradespeople to ensure optimal fleet performance.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
• Vehicles and equipment meet or exceed safety, legal, and operational standards.
• Repairs and maintenance completed within established timelines and budgets.
• Accurate, up-to-date maintenance records and part usage documentation.
• Reduction in vehicle downtime and preventable breakdowns.
• Positive feedback from internal clients (equipment operators, managers) and contribution to apprentice skill development.
• Compliance with Red Seal standards and McCain Farms’ safety protocols.
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
• Valid Red Seal Certification – Truck and Transport Mechanic.
• 3+ years’ experience in diesel engine, heavy vehicle, or agricultural machinery repair (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems; proven competence with advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and computerized diagnostic codes.
• Valid driver’s license
• Excellent troubleshooting, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, outdoors, and under pressure; willingness to work flexible shifts as needed.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in new technologies (e.g., hybrid/electric vehicles, telematics).
OTHER INFORMATION
• Physical demands: Frequent lifting, standing, crouching; exposure to mechanical hazards and variable weather.

Compensation Package: - Starting at33.25 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
