From your PASSION to ours
Lactalis Heritage Dairy, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Mechanic Level I M1 based in Wausau WI.
Site maintenance mechanics are responsible for performing basic trouble-shooting, maintaining operations and executing preventative maintenance in the main areas of mechanical, welding, machining, electrical and utilizing SAP and its functions.
From your EXPERTISE to ours
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Demonstrate a high standard of excellence in sanitary design of equipment.
Familiar with all plant Safety (including confined space, fall and fire protection) Quality and Sanitation
programs. Comply with company policies and GMP and safety rules.
Work with Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Quality to address process improvement ideas.
Understand the plant alarm panel, have a working knowledge of accident, spill and emergency procedures. Ability to follow electrical schematics to determine and correct problems with an electrical circuit.
Proficient in using a laptop to troubleshoot and correct PLC problems.
Familiar with four areas in utilities (steam, ammonia, vacuum and compressed air).
Ability to weld safely and proficiently (including preparation, penetration and clean up)
Basic understanding of the power distribution for the plant.
Proficient in using a megohmmeter, DVM, reading blueprints and electrical applications.
Basic knowledge of utilities & refrigeration and steam distribution (boiler, heat exchangers, traps and condensate pumps).
Understand OEE and use it to drive practices.
Perform other duties as directed by the Team Leader as needed for an efficient operation of the Business.
Ensure food safety.
Required to receive full Ammonia Operator training and will act as support to PSM Coordinator in accordance with the policy and OSHA requirements.
Performs all applicable HACCP and Quality Guidelines.
Observes all Safety, Environmental Regulations, Accident Prevention Procedures and Food Safety Procedures.
Familiar with Quality programs such as GMP’s, Traceability, HACCP, Allergens, CCP, hold process and verifying raw ingredients.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma/GED Required (Associate’s or certification preferred)
· At least 1 yr previous manufacturing maintenance experience preferred
· Previous maintenance work in food manufacturing a plus
· (Or any relevant combination of training/ experience)
· Use of motorized hand truck is required (training provided)
· Use of fork truck (PIT) is required (training provided)
· Must wear PPE (ear protection, steel-toed shoes, bump cap/ hard hat, sanitation gear)
· Must be dedicated to personal safety and food safety.
