The Opportunity This position aligns with Plan International’s core values and principles and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the drilling rig, as well as the execution of all drilling activities using appropriate and approved methods. The Mechanic Driver – Rig Maintenance Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the effective operation, transportation, and maintenance of drilling rigs and support vehicles. The position supports both shallow and deep well drilling activities by operating drilling rigs, performing preventive maintenance, and promptly addressing mechanical issues. The role also includes safely transporting drilling rigs and coordinating closely with the drilling crew to ensure efficient and uninterrupted drilling operations in line with PIE’s organizational standards and safety protocols. The Individual + Diploma in Auto Mechanics/Electricity, Diploma (10+1) TVET and above in auto-electricity, auto-mechanics, and preferably, general mechanics with training or experience in Auto Mechanics/ auto-electricity. + Minimum of 6 years of experience driving heavy-duty trucks, preferably in drilling, construction, or humanitarian logistics. + Proven ability working as a mechanic with valid heavy-duty vehicle driver’s license having driving license Grade 4 and above with a clean driving record and required with technical certification + Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks and compressors is an asset. + in auto mechanics, electromechanics, or a related field is highly desirable. + Experience in both shallow and deep well drilling operations is an added advantage. + Solid knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of drilling equipment. + Ability to work in remote and physically demanding environments + Additional experience and commitment to, and understanding of, participatory approaches to respond to the Venerable community. + NGO work experience, preferably working in water well drilling operations in remote areas Please Click here review full Job Description (https://planinternational-my.sharepoint.com/:w:/g/personal/tirunesh\_belete\_plan-international\_org/EQcHzX8siQpPs6Qi99\_fQZQBC5n7DOOYXHC8HJ9TlJfOEg?e=63fje6) Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) + Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures. + Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies; + Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work. + Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
