Job Description:

Summary: This individual will operate the automatic wrapping machine. This individual will assist customers with special requests and answer questions about meat products and services. Perform duties that comply with local health code and follow proper safety procedures and standards. This position requires working weekends and holidays based on department staffing requirements.

Provides prompt and courteous customer service receive and fulfills all ordersWraps, weighs, labels and display all merchandise utilizing the automatic wrapping machineStocks display case and rotate merchandise as requestedAssists customers with all inquiries and requestsOperates machinery by following proper department production and safety standards, as neededInspects and reassembles equipment for use and perform routine maintenance as assignedMaintains accurate retail pricing and signageCleans and sanitizes work area, equipment and utensils in compliance with health codeSustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparationDemonstrates excellent customer service standardsReports hazard and safety violations immediatelyWorks toward continuous quality improvementEnsures accurate pricing by placing the corresponding price and ingredient labels on each packageUpholds Metcalfe’s culture, customer service, and performance expectationsUpholds, supports and promotes all company policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred6 months previous grocery experience preferred

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
