As a Meat Specialist, you will consult, direct, and manage all aspects of the assigned stores' department operations in a manner designed to maximize sales and gross margins, department market shares and increase revenue and profitability as applicable to department assigned, and provide positive customer experiences. You will ensure the effective utilization of personnel and available company resources and work closely with decision makers and independent store owners to assist with department specific sales and merchandising as well as increasing the volume of company products and programs, as applicable. **Job Description** + **Full-Time, On-Site Role** + **Location: This position can be based anywhere within the Northern Wisconsin region and requires travel to 29 Piggly Wiggly stores.** **You will contribute by:** + Maximizing department sales and gross profits (if applicable to the assigned department) through a combination of company programs and personal experience, offering direction, supervision, counseling, and evaluations for retail stores. + Advising store owners, managers, and department managers on equipment, operations, merchandising, pricing, training, and performance evaluation. + Ensuring compliance with all corporate/company policies at assigned corporate stores. When needed, recommending or implementing changes in accordance with company operations manuals to address deficiencies or gaps in current policies. + Ensuring assigned store departments meet all state, county, and local regulations, including weights and measures laws and labeling requirements. + Assisting store managers with interviewing, hiring, and training department managers and staff; assigning work, developing future department leaders, and addressing employee concerns. + Conducting individual store visits and helping store owners strengthen their business relationship with the company. + Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations, including safety, sanitation, health, and packaging requirements. + Creating, supporting, and presenting new programs, special buys, promotional sale events, training seminars, and special projects as needed. + Assisting with and supervising new store setups, department resets, and staff training. + Monitoring department labor schedules and recommending adjustments to improve efficiency. + Overseeing corporate store department managers who supervise departmental employees. + Ensuring stores under labor contracts adhere to respective labor agreements. + Performing other duties and assignments as needed. + Frequently traveling to stores within the assigned region. **We’re searching for candidates with:** + Full knowledge of every staff position within the department, including procedures, policies, and operations. + The ability to perform arithmetic calculations (e.g., cutting tests, gross margins, yields, ratios, tare weights, pricing breakdowns) and verify vendor invoices; complete and submit required records and reports. + The ability to frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally crouch or kneel; regularly sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. + Strong verbal communication skills to respond to in-store pages, customer inquiries, phone calls, and to effectively communicate with store owners, department managers and employees, co-workers, and vendors. + Proficiency in reading, writing, analyzing, and interpreting business materials, professional journals, technical procedures, regulations, equipment instructions, handbooks, policies, emails, and other job-related documents. + The ability to lift up to 50 pounds. + Comfort working with fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants, and flowers without allergic reactions that affect performance. + Sufficient physical mobility to respond quickly to emergencies (e.g., spills, customer accidents, shoplifting incidents). + The ability to tolerate moderate dust and chemical fumes from common cleaning agents. + A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between stores, including overnight stays as required. + If applicable to the assigned department, an understanding of requirements for an Operator's (Bartender’s) License as designated in state statutes and local ordinances. + The ability to pass Food Safety Certification or other required certifications.The ability to complete company-directed training programs or modules. + 2-5 years of experience in the grocery or supermarket industry; some background in accounting is desired. **Environment:** + Store : Office Temperature (65F to 75F) + Office : Office Temperature (65F to 75F) **We offer:** + Weekly Pay + Benefits available from day 1 (medical, dental, vision, and more) + Company matched 401k + PTO and Holiday Pay offered + Career Progression Opportunities + Tuition Reimbursement + Employee Health & Wellness program + Employee Discounts / Purchasing programs + Employee Assistance Program **Every person matters.** We keep our values alive through a culture that embraces differences and ensures that every person matters. **The Fine Print** This Job advertisement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of employment.
