Salary: $5200 / Week Primary Care Physician (MD) Full Time - Houston ,TX - Long/Term Contract Location: Houston, Texas Schedule: Full-time, Onsite | 40 hours/week (Day Shift – Flexible 5x8s or 4x10s) Contract Type: 1099 | Long-Term (5 years) with Annual Rate Increases Compensation: Weekly Pay About the Role Amergis Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary Care Physician (MD) to join the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) in Houston, TX. This is a full-time, onsite position providing direct patient care and clinical oversight within a federal detention facility. The role includes collaborative responsibilities with 7 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), primarily reviewing charts and offering clinical guidance. Key Responsibilities + Serve as the on-site medical authority, overseeing all aspects of healthcare delivery. + Provide direct care to a diverse patient population, including adults and children. + Conduct physical assessments, manage acute and chronic conditions, and respond to medical emergencies. + Supervise and collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and other clinical personnel. + Review and approve referrals, lab results, and patient documentation. + Participate in performance improvement initiatives and staff training. + Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records. Qualifications + MD or DO from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution (or ECFMG certification for international graduates). + Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas. + DEA license to prescribe controlled substances in Texas. + Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics. + Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience. + BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, or ASHI). + Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required. Preferred Experience + Prior work in detention, correctional, or residential healthcare settings. Skills & Attributes + Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills. + Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. + Cultural competence and adaptability in diverse environments. + Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office tools. + Ability to manage emergencies and work flexible hours, including on-call rotations. Security & Physical Requirements + Must pass DHS background checks and fitness determinations. + Capable of responding to emergencies within four minutes. + Able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and CPR.
