McLaughlin - Operations Superintendent

Position Description:

We are looking for an Operations Superintendent to join the Closure Team at our McLaughlin closure site.  This role oversees day to day closure activities, plans and executes projects to ensure ongoing success, makes strategic operational and closure recommendations, and will collaborate with other site staff to plan and prepare for site closure milestone projects.  The Operations Superintendent will routinely plan, schedule and perform or oversee engineering and technical tasks relating to the site’s water management and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with staff on all projects pertaining to water management, site reclamation, engineering, construction, and decommissioning work including work scope, schedule, and budget Ensure on-going communication and cooperation with site personnel to optimize the ability for all to obtain the necessary information and/or accomplish a shared objective Manage the preparation and administration of consultant and contractor contracts Participate in preparation of comprehensive technical reports to support closure activities based on collected data, capital and O&M costs, and health & safety Liaise with tailings storage facilities (TSF) Engineer of Record to ensure the stability of the onsite TSFs as to not pose a potential risk to human health and/or the environment

 

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field is required Greater than 5 years of experience in the mining, construction, or consulting industry is required Project management skills pertaining to water management operations, reclamation, and decommissioning is required Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles pertaining to tailings storage facilities monitoring and maintenance is a plus The ability to work outside and regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground. Must have the ability to lift 50 or more pounds safely.  Available for on-call emergency call outs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Other responsibilities as needed Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts required Knowledge of regulatory constraints related to water management and activities is a plus
