Job DescriptionAs Materials Planning Advisor you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Safety, Health and EnvironmentIdentify ways to support specific safety, health and sustainability opportunities and risks and ensure that materials planning activities comply with all Safety, Health and Environmental requirements.Ensure the safe operation of the Physical Supply Chain environment by performing regular risk assessments, monitoring safety performance, and promptly addressing any identified risks or issues.Drive and support compliance with relevant policies and standards, and particularly the Contractor Performance Management policy and procedures, to enable achievement of gold-standard contractor safety performance.Performance and DeliveryGeneralManage the effective implementation of the Supply Chain strategy within the physical supply chain and materials planning environment.Embrace an agile supply chain by remaining adaptive and flexible to accommodate and focus on emerging and changing business priorities.Supply Chain Strategy, Critical Tasks, and TargetsSupport the implementation of the materials plan based on inputs from end-users and historical data analysis to meet requirements at optimal inventory levels.Support the operation and output of reliable planning and suggested inventory models using detailed inputs from end-users, MRP analysts, and forecasting models to inform category decisions across the region.Support the implementation and adherence to standards and guidelines related to inventory management.Execute the operation and output of reliable planning and suggested inventory models using detailed inputs from end-users, MRP analysts, and forecasting models to inform category decisions across the region.Support the definition and maintenance of the inventory strategy in partnership with Group COE, business stakeholders (particularly engineering and maintenance), and finance to balance delivery requirements and financial commitments.Support MRP teams with the setting and maintenance of MRP parameters to optimise inventory in alignment with the inventory strategy.Drive working capital optimisation opportunities, such as the disposal of excess and obsolete stock.Support working capital optimisation opportunities, including the disposal of excess and obsolete stock.PlanningProvide input into frontloading, identification, and sizing of initiatives related to working capital benefits.Ensure that inventory optimisation events are planned, scheduled, resourced, and executed in a timely and visible manner.Sustainability and Social ImpactIdentify and lead inventory optimisation initiatives to minimise wastage at operations and reduce Anglo American’s carbon footprint.Implement network optimisation opportunities to guide logistics providers in reducing transportation frequency, contributing positively to environmental impact.Commercial Value DeliveryImplement working capital optimisation opportunities and identify cost reduction initiatives that positively impact the cost-to-serve.Provide input and guidance to sourcing and purchasing teams on optimal fulfilment strategies for commodity classes (e.g., central vs. decentralised, VMI, VOI).Support a culture of planning and fulfilment within purchasing, sourcing, and operations.Support the Anglo American Operating Model and share cross-site best practices to leverage tangible working capital benefits.Relationship ManagementMaintain stakeholder relationships within the supply chain, key suppliers, and internal end-users (maintenance and production teams) to enable effective planning and fulfilment of demand.Provide advice to stakeholders regarding MRP and demand planning processes.Create awareness and embed best practices regarding inventory and network optimisation protocols.Coordinate transport and delivery to meet operational deadlines.People and TeamsMentor the team to ensure agreed service levels are maintained and service excellence is achieved.Embrace a supply chain team culture of diversity and inclusiveness.Drive personal performance management and learning.Support cross-functional team interactions with internal stakeholders to execute purchasing activities.Governance and ComplianceEnsure personal and team compliance with Anglo American and Supply Chain governance requirements related to all materials planning activities.Ensure personal and team compliance with applicable legislative requirements related to all physical supply chain management activities within the assigned portfolio.This role is in Supply Chain at a Band 6 level reporting to the Material Planning Specialist.
QualificationsNational Diploma in Supply Chain/Logistics Management/Procurement or a relevant discipline on NQF6A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Logistics Management/Procurement or a relevant discipline on NQF7 – PreferredSA Drivers Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)Technical Knowledge
3-5 years of experience in supply chain management in the mining industry.Knowledge of systematic capabilities and materials planning systems, demand algorithms, statistical models, and their operations.Thorough knowledge of navigating complex environments and managing diverse internal and external stakeholder relationships.Familiarity with demand forecasting and planning methodologies.Additional InformationWhat we offer
