Materials Planner

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the timely and efficient supply of raw materials and components required for production, optimizing inventory levels, and supporting continuous improvement in supply chain processes. The role is pivotal in maintaining production schedules, managing supplier relationships, and driving operational excellence through effective use of SAP and other planning tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Planning & Supply Management

Manage timely supply of raw materials and components to meet production schedules (SAP trigger report).Place and maintain Purchase Orders (POs) and/or set schedule line agreements with the help of MRP.Generate full Bill of Materials (BOM) demand based on the production plan.Manage consignment materials.

Inventory & Stock Management

Oversee safety stock management (CIO).Monitor in-house stock value versus targets.Manage material parameters: NOD/Phase-out/Reactivations.

Exception & Change Management

Manage SAP exceptions, additional material needs, and de-expedite opportunities.Manage specification changes, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and temporary deviations.Run scenarios and define mitigation plans.

Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination

Manage suppliers/plants in terms of delivery time and quantity; resolve short-term issues directly.Coordinate with procurement to track supplier performance, address supply chain disruptions, share forecasts with selected vendors, and drive continuous improvement with suppliers on lead time (LT) and minimum order quantity (MOQ) reductions.Coordinate with the logistics team to monitor inventory levels and manage inbounds.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor PSI’s (Production, Sales, Inventory) of globally planned components.Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including:Supply mix impactUFR impactSafety stock (SS) attainmentInventory to Operations Plan (Inv to OP)Stockout ratePriority exceptions

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 2 years’ experience in supply chain, material planning, or production planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Strong working knowledge of SAP and MRP systems.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.Experience in supplier management and negotiation is an advantage.Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
