Material Manager is responsible for supervision of department management and staff, facilitating interdepartmental communication and allocating tasks and resources as needed to efficiently and effectively achieve goals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Highschool diploma or GED required. Bachler's degree in operations or business field preferred.
Experience: 5+ years related experience. Demonstrated experience implementing material flow techniques that deliver improved material handling efficiencies. Strong background in developing and implementing inventory control standards that improve inventory accuracy and increase inventory turnover. Deep understanding of lean materials management.
Travel: 0-10% based on business need.
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 6 am to 6 pm, or 6 pm to 6 am Monday through Friday depending on assigned shift. May vary based on customer demands and can include, but is not limited to: nights, weekends, and holidays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and mentor a team in developing, planning, and executing material strategies and processes that drive ongoing operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, develop, and implement improved methods of material handling, material presentation, and inventory control.Forecast and strategically plan for future material management requirements including warehousing, equipment, and human resources, to effectively manage growth and demand fluctuations while maintaining optimal performance.Identify opportunities to collaborate with supply chain partners to optimize buy quantities, enhance packaging, improve logistics efficiency, and strengthen inventory control parameters.Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing safer, more efficient methods and practices across enterprise operations.Lead the discovery, vetting, and adoption of new technologies, such as advanced warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools, automation solutions, and improved material handling and inventory control technologies to improve efficiency, visibility, and data-driven decision-making within logistics operations.Develop long-term strategies for reducing materials management related costs, such as optimizing inventory levels, improving transportation efficiency, and leveraging economies of scale. This involves balancing cost-saving initiatives with maintaining high service levelsEstablish standardized procedures and best practices across materials management functions to ensure consistency, quality, and continuous improvement. This can include creating performance benchmarks and implementing industry standards.Lead project management efforts to track upcoming business needs, monitor ongoing projects, manage implementation schedules, and ensure budget compliance.Actively participates in Faith’s hiring referral and mentoring program, as appropriate.Performs other related duties as required and assigned.The job description and responsibilities described are intended to provide guidelines for job expectations and the employee's ability to perform the position described.
