POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Materials Manager is responsible for all aspects of inventory management and warehouse operations to ensure maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. They develop and implement warehouse operations systems, maintain accurate stock control systems, and manage inventory transaction processes. They are responsible for setting and driving strategy, reviewing workflow and staffing requirements, and assessing departmental performance. Through coaching, training, and evaluation, they motivate and manage the Materials team to meet company goals and policies. The Materials Manager also leads cross-functional projects, produces reports on inventory and warehouse status, and provides guidance and training to personnel while anticipating and resolving potential issues.REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reports to the Director of Supply Chain
DIRECT REPORTS (if applicable): Material Handler 1, Material Handler 2, Material Handler 3, Inventory Control Specialist, Shipping Clerk, Lead Material Handler, Materials Supervisor
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
• Ensure that the warehouse operates with maximum efficiency with customer satisfaction being the main objective
• Supervise, organize, direct, and train materials employees by establishing, monitoring and managing operational objectives
• Manages and monitors inventory transaction processes to ensure inventory accuracy and timeliness to company policies
• Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities
• Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
• Develop warehouse operations systems, determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, inbound and shipping processes
• Coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of goods
• Coordinate the generation of cycle count and physical inventory sheets and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the inventory count
• Manage recycling and inventory disposal per Creation Technologies’ policy
• Assist Finance and Procurement staff by reviewing and analyzing invoices as needed
• Inspect material handling equipment, tools, and machinery regularly and monitor general maintenance as needed
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
• Directly manage employees including approve timecards and personal time off, performance evaluation, career progression planning, and employee recognition
• Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity goals are met or exceeded
• Sets and drives strategy
• Review and prepare workflow, staffing and space requirements, equipment design, and action plans, while ensuring productivity, quality, and customer service standards are met
• Assess departmental performance in areas assigned, identify problems, develop and present effective solutions
Coach, manage, and evaluate performance of materials team personnel to meet company goals and policies including career progression and cross-functional skill development
• Demonstrates flexibility in developing systems that can be adapted to individual projects due to the nature and scope of work of Creation Technologies projects with varying quality assurance and documentation requirements
• Provides feedback to their leadership on resources and training needs; proposes and implements solutions
• Audit receiving, shipping, material handling processes and procedures, shipments, receipts, etc.
• Coordinate and support the implementation of training, procedural documentation updates, and process improvements
• Lead cross-functional projects, process improvements and continuous improvement events to improve the performance of the Materials team
• Produce statistical and information reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis regarding inventory and warehouse status including establishing metrics and targets
• Provides guidance, training, and priorities to personnel in their daily work while working with them to resolve issues and anticipating potential problems
• Participates in global policy changes and continuous process improvements and initiatives
• Updates policies and training materials as needed
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• 5 years' experience in warehouse/inventory management, physical inventory practices and procedures
• 5 years' experience with leading hourly teams or equivalent experience/training
• University or college degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalency
• Strong working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) to create, edit, and maintain documents
• Experience in setting up MS Excel functions including creating and editing formulas, VLOOKUP, and PivotTables
• Advanced English business communications skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to schedule and conduct meaningful meetings
• Strong customer service focus (both internal and external)
• Must be very detailed oriented/organizational skills
• Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with a dynamic business environment
• Ability to manage and support staffing of a multi-shift operation
• Proactive and with a sense of urgency
Preferred
• Experience managing inventory in the electronics industry
• APICS CPIM Certification

Working Conditions
The working environment is generally clean; however, this position may be exposed to occasional dust, metals/solder occasional exposure to high noise levels from operating machines or physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. The employee must wear designated PPE and Electo-static dissipative protection where required.
