Materials Manager
*** Position Overview** The Materials Manager is a key leader in the operations team. The role is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling and ordering of production materials and components. Overall responsibility to ensure the "right part is in the right place at the right time" while maximizing the company's inventory turns. Efforts are expected to result in a balanced supply of material that minimize inventory, prevent production part shortages and are efficiently delivered to the assigned production facilities. **Essential Job Functions** * Supervise and manage assigned Materials Team * Monitor schedules, ensuring material is available for production needs and taking preventive action to avoid shortages. * Management of engineering changes and end of life changes to minimize obsolete inventory. * Manage, create, and / or modify material replenishment processes to ensure production needs are consistently met. * Monitor and manage past due orders on a daily basis, ensuring all late orders are addressed and resolved with suppliers /internal manufacturing. * Maintain shortage spreadsheets on a daily basis, expediting orders and communicating with the production team accordingly. * Serve as the lead materials contact for production; reacting to the needs and issues in a timely manner * An active lead for inventory accuracy and for physical inventory execution. * Engage in sales and operations planning meetings, as needed. * Where feasible, implement "lean manufacturing" concepts - such as kanban **Requirements** * Minimum five years of relevant experience including three years in a management position. * Bachelor's degree or equivalent * APICS Certification a plus * Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing / materials management replenishment systems; including Kanban / Pull techniques with demonstrated ability to implement. * Experience using MRP/ERP tools and management of related data. Syteline or MAPICS XA experience a plus. * Strong organization, planning, project management, and communication skills. * Ability to lead others * Ability to research and troubleshoot problems. * Capable of planning and working independently * Team based and collaborative mindset * Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel **PPE Requirements** * Safety glasses Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
