Materials Distribution, Field Support Technician
The Field Support Materials Distribution Technician (MDT) is assigned to an internal resource pool which provides replacement and/or short-term coverage in place of other Materials Distribution Technicians who are out of work. The Field Support MDT will be assigned to a specific location but will be scheduled to support multiple services, job functions, and shifts as needed (receiving, inventory, supply management, equipment processing, and/or other duties as assigned).
NOTE: This position requires flexibility to cover multiple job functions and shifts within the Materials Distribution Department.
ResponsibilitiesHOSPITAL INVENTORY
Replenish assigned inventory locations (carts, supply, equipment rooms).Receiving and delivering special orders to the appropriate departments.Pick orders from storeroom to stock carts for PAR locationsCycle count stock bulk items and put away storeroom inventory.RECEIVING DOCK
Fulfill requests for priority services based on hospital needs.Receive and unpack materials against purchase orders (PO’s) for delivery.Prepare orders for return-to-vendor shipment.Record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability.Report damages and discrepancies to request reimbursement or re-shipment.Maintain logs of all shipments outgoing and incoming.SUPPLY REPLENISHMENT
Replenishment of assigned PAR inventory, bedside carts & equipment roomsContact Customer Service to request priority services, products & equipmentMaintain assigned PAR areas and assigned bedside cartsEQUIPMENT PROCESSING
Decontaminate reusable pumps and durable medical equipmentStage equipment for pickup ensuring proper storage and charging of devicesCoordinate transport and pickup for damaged electronic medical equipment Retrieval of pumps and medical equipment throughout the main campus. Clean 20-25 pieces of pumps and/or medical equipment per hour Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
LEVEL I
· High school Diploma or equivalent
· 0-1 years of experience in materials distribution, inventory management, or logistics
· Ability to learn functions of hospital materials distribution, products, & equipment
· Some knowledge of shipping regulations, carriers, and customs procedures
· Basic computer proficiency (databases, tracking, scanning, and logging)
· Ability to operate hospital equipment (dollies, carts, pallet jacks)
LEVEL II
· High school Diploma or equivalent
· 1-3 years of experience in materials distribution, inventory, or logistics
· Strong knowledge of routine job functions within hospital materials distribution
· Understanding of hospital logistics, related product knowledge, and equipment
· Ability to operate hospital equipment (dollies, carts, pallet jacks)
· Intermediate computer proficiency (databases, tracking, scanning, and logging)
· Knowledge shipping regulations, carriers, and customs procedures
LEVEL III
· High school Diploma or equivalent
· 3-5 years of experience in hospital materials distribution, inventory, or logistics
· Complete understanding of job functions within hospital materials distribution
· Well versed in hospital logistics, related product knowledge, and equipment
· Knowledge of shipping regulations, carriers, and customs
· Advanced computer proficiency (databases, tracking, scanning, and logging)
· Ability to operate various equipment (dollies, carts, pallet jacks)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to lift 40 lbs.
· Repetitive motion
· Reaching, pushing, pulling carts weighing up to 250lbs.
· Walking, standing for extended periods of time
