Materials Coordinator
Job Description A healthcare provider in Houston, TX is looking for a Materials Coordinator who will be responsible for ensuring that the facility is properly stocked with all supplies by implementing, measuring, and directing supply chain activities within the operating room/surgical services. The Materials Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting OR operations through inventory management and fostering a collaborative environment between the supply chain and the clinical surgical services team members. The role involves building strong relationships with physicians, clinicians, and vendors, sourcing specialized equipment and supplies, and coordinating timely purchase orders. It requires close collaboration with the Operating Room Manager and clinical staff to maintain appropriate inventory levels, verify pricing accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with vendors. The coordinator proactively monitors surgical schedules to anticipate supply needs, tracks procurement activity, maintains records and contracts, and ensures compliance with hospital policies, including biohazard waste management.
