Materials Coordinator

SUMMARY: Materials coordinator owns the process of coordinating activities related to warehouse administration (shipping, receiving, material handling), purchasing of raw material and indirect products, and all the activities that include the daily planning or production orders. This position requires the ability to use, understand and work with a different document such as packing slips, purchase orders, requisitions, process sheets, and any special instructions, and the ability to work independently with little or no supervision required. The position also requires employees to be involved in all the production cycle, establishing production schedules, labor loading, capacity requirements, monitoring outside services providers, material cost reduction and savings projects. Coordinate production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. Interacts with finance, production, quality, human resources, maintenance and top management. Provides inputs to management and handle departmental KPI’s.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:         

Duties include but are not limited to:

Coordinate the receive, count, verify and ensure accuracy of received goods, including raw materials and MRO components.Coordinate the verification of the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders.Coordinate the verification of materials received are as ordered. Routes incoming items within the company as directed.Coordinate all the activities related to receiving and shipping process in warehouse environment.Coordinate the process of Cycle Counts on a daily basis.Coordinate with the team the protection/material handling tasks.Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of ladingActs as a liaison between customer service, sales administration, engineering, production, procurement and logistics departments.  Gathers production metrics and regularly reports internal and global KPIs. Will report to Operations management on KPI trending and actions taken to improve KPI performance where it lags to targets. Makes use of business forecast with easy to access and transparent data & translates into forecast information for sourcing & manufacturing immediate/medium/long-term planning. Develops, implements and adjusts manufactured and purchased material, component and subassembly order forecasting to achieve inventory plans and lead time expectations. Understands material and machine capacity and constraints. Owns inventory and turns. Performs inventory analysis, data collection, reporting and understands global sourcing requirements. Owns shipping, receiving, outside processing, and logistics for the site. Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES: 

Bachelor’s degree minimum.3-5 years of leadership experience in Planning/Purchasing, Warehouse and/or Materials management position, including logistics.Strong PC skills required.APICS certification as a plus.Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.Good problem solving skills.  Resolving most questions and problems and referring more complex issues to higher levels.Good communication skills.Drive for continuous improvement.Strong leadership in lean environment, organizational and decision making skills.Capable to work under pressure, in a tight schedule and in a rapidly changing environment.Capable of managing and delegating multiple priorities successfully.Contract negotiation skills.Ability to think strategically and tactically.Excellent written and verbal communication, computer skills and interpersonal skills. Experience with low volume/high mix production. Strong project management, problem solving, and analytical skills.Knowledge of production and inventory management. Strong oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English.Proven success establishing and setting up warehousing functions.
