Materials Clerk
**Job Title** : Materials Clerk (TEMP-TO-HIRE) **Department:** Shop **Location:** Dripping Springs, TX 78620 **Pay:** $20-$23 an hour **Schedule:** Mon-Fri 6am-5:30pm, every other Saturday for 6 hours **Report To:** Production Operations Manager **Summary/Objective:** The Shop & Receiving Clerk is directly responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, inventory, and distribution of bolts, hardware, raw materials, and fabricated components critical to production operations. They will ensure accuracy, organization, and timely flow of materials to support efficient Shop operations working in coordination with Purchasing and other departments as needed. **Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):** + Generate from Tekla PowerFab nested cutting plans for plate and rolled materials and distribute them to the applicable shop employees + On a daily basis, track, collect and reconcile in Tekla PowerFab all previously distributed cutting plans for which material cutting has been completed + Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments of bolts, fasteners, raw steel, and other materials against purchase orders. + Document and report discrepancies, damages, or shortages to Purchasing and Quality departments. + Accurately label and organize all received goods, ensuring traceability and easy retrieval. + Maintain detailed inventory records using Tekla PoweFab Inventory Management System. + Issue bolts and other shop materials to production teams as needed, tracking usage and ensuring stock levels are maintained. + Assist in periodic and annual inventory counts and audits. + Coordinate with vendors and freight companies on deliveries and returns. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and storage area. + Support the shop floor by preparing and staging material kits for fabrication and assembly work orders. + Perform minor material handling tasks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment. + Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations + Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by performing other duties as assigned. **Qualifications:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. **Competencies:** + Technical and Analytical Capacity. + Ethical Conduct. + Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. + Communication and collaboration skills. **Education/Experience:** + High school diploma or equivalent. + 1-3 years of experience in receiving, warehouse, or materials management, preferably in a steel fabrication or industrial environment. + Knowledge of bolts, fasteners, and steel materials commonly used in fabrication. + Strong attention to detail, with ability to read packing slips, invoices, and material specifications. + Basic computer skills; experience with inventory software preferred. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Continual improvement – One must continually grow one’s craft by learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself. + Familiarity with fabrication drawings. + Experience with steel handling and material verification processes. **Certificates and Licenses:** + Forklift certification or willingness to become certified. + OSHA-10 Certification. **Work Environment:** The work environment characteristics described here reflect those an employee typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position operates in a non-climate-controlled fabrication/production shop, which may include routine exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures. The noise level in the work environment can be high, requiring the regular use of hearing protection and adherence to company PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policies. This role may utilize standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and photocopiers.
