Job Responsibilities:
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Material Handler is responsible for keeping materials and supplies flowing smoothly through the production area. This includes moving raw materials and finished goods to the right locations, using scanning devices to track inventory, and ensuring accurate and timely deliveries. The role supports production by maintaining inventory accuracy, organizing storage areas, and helping with continuous improvement and safety practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Move materials in and out of storage locationsFollow first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures for issuing materialsUse radio frequency (RF) scanners to track inventory and process transactionsMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areasSupport production flow by delivering materials on timeVerify, count, label, and stack materials correctlyTake breaks as needed to meet material demands of productionFlex schedule (start/end times) to support shift change needsUse kanban cards to manage inventoryCommunicate respectfully and professionally with team membersParticipate in scheduled employee meetings and trainingWear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Follow all health and safety policies and proceduresReport hazards and assist with safety inspectionsAccurately complete required documentation and paperworkDemonstrate dependable attendance and a team-oriented attitudeSafely operate forklifts, RF scanners, and related equipment (after training/licensing)Preferred Skills:
Experience with kanban/Heijunka systemsParticipate in continuous improvement efforts (e.g., 5S, MPS, Mafact methods)Suggest new processes or improvements to material flow or equipment useAssist in planning better material delivery processesPerform root cause analysis or help resolve material-related issues in systems like PICSPerform and document weekly safety audits of work areasSupport workplace culture through positive reinforcement of safety and performanceProvide ongoing feedback to coworkers (positive or corrective)Knowledge of material planning, scheduling, or expeditingProficiency with Excel (intermediate level)Comfortable making decisions and using good judgment independentlyThe above statement reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of the work required inherent in the job.
