Material Follow Up Supervisor

The Material Follow-Up Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of production materials to the plant, maintaining data integrity for all part records, and ensuring alignment with production schedules and customer service objectives. This role oversees and coordinates the activities of a team of follow-up analysts, providing leadership in managing the flow of materials from suppliers to the production line.

The role includes the oversight of pilot programs, new product launches, just-in-time (JIT) operations, inbound traffic logistics, inventory levels, and supply continuity. Additionally, the Supervisor supports engineering changes, manages part specifications, and ensures that all material-related services align with both operational efficiency and working capital targets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure timely and accurate follow-up on supplier shipments to meet production requirements.

Maintain integrity and accuracy of all part and supply records in the ERP/MRP system.

Monitor and coordinate material readiness for pilot builds and new program launches.

Supervise just-in-time delivery and inbound traffic to optimize plant material flow.

Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess, in line with company goals.

Coordinate with suppliers, logistics providers, and internal teams to resolve delays or disruptions.

Support implementation and tracking of engineering changes and updated material specifications.

Align material supply planning with production planning and customer demand.

Analyze material flow performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for a team of analysts.

Establish individual and team goals, track performance, and deliver regular feedback.

Promote professional development and ensure appropriate training is provided to staff.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in material planning, logistics, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of ERP systems, MRP processes, and inventory management.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, procurement, and logistics teams.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry with high-mix/low-volume production environments.

Proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT), Kanban, or pull systems in material handling.

Strong understanding of import/export regulations and international logistics.

Working knowledge of engineering change processes and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams through high-pressure situations such as launch phases or critical shortages.

Advanced Excel skills or proficiency in data analysis tools like Power BI or Tableau.
