NaphCare is hiring a MAT Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Part-time 10 hours a week like you to join our team at the Washoe County Jail located in Reno, NV.
As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Nurse Practitioner, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care, responding to emergencies, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for MAT Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:
Provide direct and indirect medical care to meet the physiological, psychological and emotional needs of the patientsObtain history and perform a physical examination to determine patient health statusFormulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement treatment plansIdentify patient health conditions and prescribe treatment based on diagnosisEvaluate patients who have returned from off-site treatmentAdmit and discharge patients from all units in the facilityConduct roundsSchedule and perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures QualificationsEducation / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements
Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner with Psychiatric certification in NVOR a Physician Assistant with a minimum of 1 year of relevant Psychiatric work experienceCurrent DEA registrationAn appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site PhysicianPossess an active CPR certificationBe certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical SpecialtiesMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Experience / Skills
Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAble to work independently and in a teamExperience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plusIntegrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
