About this opportunity:
We are seeking a Master Researcher in IC Design and Multichip Integration to lead advanced research initiatives in the System-on-Package (SoP) domain and shape Ericsson’s next generation of hardware platforms. With over a decade of hands-on and strategic experience in IC design, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, mentoring others, and influencing technical direction at both the project and organizational level.
This position offers a rare opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of technologies - from early-stage feasibility studies to proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrators for applications ranging from portable devices to high-power base stations. Your work will directly contribute to Ericsson’s patent portfolio, research strategy, and long-term competitiveness in advanced packaging and system integration.
What you will do:
An average week might include:
Driving and coordinating advanced research activities, including system-level architecture exploration, circuit design, and package integration feasibility studies.Leading the definition and validation of innovative IC design methodologies or integration schemes through simulation, prototyping, and measurement campaigns.Inventing and actively contributing to Ericsson’s IPR strategy through invention disclosures and patent development.Representing Ericsson in collaborations with top-tier universities, strategic partners, and global customers, providing both technical depth and thought leadership.Advising on technology direction and investment, influencing Ericsson’s internal research strategies and long-term roadmap planning.Mentoring junior researchers and guiding technical discussions, ensuring best practices in design, modeling, verification, and experimental validation.Driving the development of PoCs, evaluation platforms, and demonstrators, bridging research with product-relevant innovation.Exploring and integrating emerging trends in SoP, chiplet-based design, heterogeneous integration, and advanced RF/analog systems.
The skills you bring:
Essential qualifications:
PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in related fileds, with 10+ years of experience in IC design and advanced integration.Demonstrated expertise in analog/RF IC design, including layout, verification, and measurement (e.g., LNA, Mixer, VCO, PA, PLL).Deep proficiency with EDA tools such as Cadence, Spectre, Calibre, Momentum, Verilog-A/AMS, and associated verification environments.Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of delivering high-quality research outcomes.Proven experience in IP generation, including multiple patent filings or significant technical publications.
Preferred skills and experience:
Strong understanding of chip-package-PCB integration, including co-design and simulation techniques.Familiarity with transceiver architectures and system-level tradeoffs in both mobile and infrastructure contexts.Proficiency with EM simulation and packaging tools (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Allegro).Experience with system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink.Participation in industry consortia, standardization bodies, or collaborative research programs is a plus.
