Nature of Work
The Master Electrician is designated as the Responsible Licensed Individual for assigned departments with duties defined in Minnesota Statute- responsible for performing work related to electrical projects and provides planning, oversight, direction and inspection of electrical work/projects performed by other qualified teammates that is potentially or specifically subject to City/State review/inspection. Under general direction, this position performs a variety of electrical and maintenance duties including some general maintenance work for assigned departments to ensure systems are properly maintained, clean, and safe. Primary areas of responsibility include inspection, maintenance, and repairs to electrical systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, mechanical, structural, security and building automation systems. Secondary tasks may include carpentry, painting, custodial, and grounds work, etc.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This position requires availability for some overnight 12-hour shifts (i.e. 5 PM – 5 AM) during the winter season to oversee power generation for snowmaking operations.
Compensation: $37.90 - $47.95 per hour depending on qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Perform, direct and/or oversee staff and contractors in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment covered under the National Electric Code (NEC).
+ Fulfill duties as the Electrician of Record & Responsible Electrician required under Minnesota Statute.
+ Oversee all electrical work performed for the assigned departments.
+ Assist in other departmental electrical related solutions and verify compliance with applicable codes and statutes.
+ Plan, layout, install and/or oversee the installation of electrical wiring, apparatus, and equipment.
+ Perform locates of underground facilities.
+ Recommend when to retain contracted services, oversee contracted services, and maintain effective working relationships with contractors.
+ Plan for preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as necessary.
+ Train staff in the planning, layout, and installation of electrical work.
+ Be available onsite to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot power generation for snow making equipment.
*Record keeping and administration responsibilities.
+ Receive and review assigned work orders; prepare reports of work activity as may be required.
+ Prepare and submit applications for a request for inspection to the jurisdiction having authority over electrical construction.
+ Coordinate electrical inspection services with building officials.
+ Inspect and care for vehicles, tools and equipment assigned to the crew.
+ Keep records for equipment maintenance performed and of equipment and wiring changes.
+ Oversee the on-the-job training of apprentices and provide written documentation as required by Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry
Perform maintenance on building architectural, mechanical, and structural components, e.g. roofs, siding, masonry, doors, plumbing, and windows.
+ Service building structural systems, roofing systems, external metal siding and masonry systems, window and door systems.
+ Determine, by visual examination and regular inspection, the causes of systems failures, and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance contract repair.
+ Perform carpentry, plumbing, and masonry work as required.
Perform small project coordination.
+ Coordinate small project plans and specifications to meet scope of work, budget, and bidding parameters.
+ Coordinate small project schedules and resources to optimize execution and minimize disruptions.
+ Oversee other permanent staff and seasonal staff as assigned for project implementation and coordination.
Perform general repair, maintenance, grounds, custodial, and snow removal operations as directed to ensure facilities and property are well maintained and safe.
+ Maintain sidewalks by sweeping, shoveling, plowing, removing snow and applying salt and sand.
+ Operate specialized mowers, spreaders, brooms, blowers, and pickup plow trucks.
+ Provide backup support or fill in for custodial/grounds as needed in performing tasks such as Mowing, landscaping, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, dusting, stripping, polishing, shampooing, shoveling, replenishing supplies. Remove trash, wastepaper, and recyclables and empty trash cans, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Completion of an accredited Electrical or Electronics Technology program, AND 2 years of experience as a licensed Master Electrician, planning for, laying out, supervising, and installing wiring, apparatus, or equipment for electrical light, heat, and power;
OR
A high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an approved Apprentice Electrician program, AND 6 years of experience as a licensed Master Electrician planning for, laying out, supervising, and installing wiring, apparatus, or equipment for electrical light, heat, and power.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Current Minnesota Class A Master Electrician license or licensed Journeyman Electrician with ability to obtain Master Electrician license to meet the job requirements within 6 months
Desirable Qualifications
Experience installing or maintaining lighting and control systems and air conditioning and HVAC control systems
