Leads the development and implementation of vehicle system strategies to achieve efficient vehicle design, mass (weight), mass properties and customer attributes. Duties include:
• Develop and deliver global platform and vehicle mass strategies to optimize customer attributes and Fuel Economy / Emission/ Safety certifications simultaneously in multiple global markets;
• Develop models to predict future vehicle ideal states, utilizing statistical, deterministic and parametric modeling techniques;
• Work with interfacing commodity engineering activities to ensure successful implementation of optimized design and attribute solutions;
• Complete in-depth analyses of competitive vehicles to develop forecasts of attribute performance, future capabilities and changing industry “standard” technologies.
Basic Position Qualifications:
>5 years’ experience in product development and/or automotive industry; Engineering degree; Vehicle systems knowledge Ability to manage multiple programs of varying scope and timing simultaneously; Excellent communication, project management and leadership skills; Familiarity with CAE methods and tools for optimization; Strong presentation skills, ability to manage teams and interfaces to gain alignment and deliver goals.Responsibilities include:
Supervise a section of 6+ engineers; Leading a team to develop vehicle weight target and mass property analysis; Managing mass properties, balancing attributes and content for vehicle enhancements to the customer, with systems/hardware constraints for safety and cost; Support best in class $/kg delivery of vehicle mass properties via new technologies; Managing interfaces with Vehicle Architecture, Program Design & release engineers and Vehicle Engineering Managers Deployment of vehicle capability and compatibility assessment; Deliver global regulatory compliance for mass properties; Frequently reporting vehicle mass health to Senior Management in support of program milestones and product development
