Marketing Specialist (with Event Focus)

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Marketing & Communications team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in New York City and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

As a Marketing Specialist (with Event Focus), you will create impactful event experiences that drive engagement and strengthen Marsh’s relationships with clients, prospects, and stakeholders across the US. This role involves planning and executing a variety of marketing initiatives, with heavy emphasis on events, including Marsh-hosted conferences, industry participation, and national sponsorships.

You will manage all aspects of event execution while collaborating with internal teams and external partners, such as the broader Marsh marketing/communications team, creative, individual business units, global events, and outside vendors. Bringing strategic insight and strong organizational skills, you will analyze event performance and adapt plans to maximize value and lead generation.

Reporting to the US Marketing & Events Manager, you will work on a focused team to execute events across all Marsh business units. This is a great opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented leader to drive change, make a business impact, and grow within Marsh McLennan’s global marketing organization.

We will count on you to:

Plan and execute large, multi-faceted events – including Marsh-hosted programs, industry conferences, and national sponsorships.Work in partnership with business leadership and other stakeholders to deliver events and marketing campaigns that support and drive core business priorities.Lead strategic direction – e.g., event themes/sub-themes, messaging, design, content, speakers, agenda, and attendee experience, etc. – aligned with core business objectives.Oversee supporting marketing tactics, including thought leadership, press involvement, social media campaigns, email, web pages, internal communications, etc.Leverage audience engagement as a key variable in event activation – by leveraging broader audience marketing engagement to influence event invitations, and by materially translating specific attendee in-event actions and behaviors into quantifiable prospects/leads in our CRM.Lead all aspects of event logistics and project management – including the following:Overall project plan and timeline developmentBudget preparation and reconciliation, including monitoring and enforcing cost benchmarksVenue/site evaluation and selection; contract negotiationRegistration website/event app content and functionalityAgenda/program development and speaker preparationsAttendee marketing, list development, and invitation schedules (email, social media, etc.)Vendor negotiation and management, including production, rentals, décor, etc.Event logistics (F&B orders, AV/production, room setup and event flow, timing, hotel room blocks, transportation services, etc.)Colleague allocation and travelProduction of creative materials (print and digital signage, branded items, giveaways, print materials).On-site management of team and event, including the registration processPost-event analysis, reporting, and surveysFor Marsh-owned events, coordinate sponsorship-acquisition efforts (provide input on sponsorship level/prospectus support, contract preparation and coordinating legal review, sponsorship deliverables tracking, and invoicing)

What you need to have: 

5+ years of experience in event planning and marketingBachelor’s degree in marketing, strategic communications, advertising, event management, or similar disciplineDemonstrated success managing events of various sizes and complexities, from conception to executionA strong background in marketing, with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of employees as well as external clients and prospects in a large, complex, and matrixed environment.Flexibility for 20% travel (could be anywhere in the US)

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $64,500 to $128,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
