**Simon & Schuster’s Independent Retail Team is looking for a marketing manager for our dynamic, energetic, collaborative team that sells to independent bookstores. This is an excellent opportunity for a book lover and an independent bookstore lover to marry their passions.**
Reporting directly to the VP and Director of Independent Retail Sales, this position will play a critical role as we look to refine our communications, marketing, and promotion to independent bookstores. The Marketing Manager will focus on sales priorities and work with our imprints to amplify their outreach with independent booksellers.
**Responsibilities include:**
+ Produce and serve as editor-in-chief of our fun, voice-driven _Simon Loves Indies_ newsletter that highlights both S&S titles and independent bookstores while growing our reach
+ Create and manage hub for digital assets of indie focus titles
+ Amplify bookseller buzz to promote S&S titles
+ Conceive and execute B2B marketing campaigns, with an emphasis on digital and social strategy
+ Create and manage S&S Indie social media presence—includingcontent creation and photography, audience engagement, partnerships, and re-promoting outreach from imprints and indie bookstores
+ Coordinate title-specific pre-order and special campaigns, including developing assets and strategies to grow market share
+ Create and execute title-specific social media campaigns
+ Track campaign progress, synthesize data analytics, and report on success and growth opportunities
+ Project manage Simon & Schuster Selects Events and other special events, such as the Winter Institute
+ Work with the American Booksellers Association and Regional Trade Associations
+ Work with multiple divisions, including publicity, creative services, editorial, and imprint marketing
+ Managing ARC distribution seasonally on key titles
+ Communicate key-title priorities to retail partners such as Bookshop and Libro.fm
+ Conceive and execute seasonal marketing campaigns across imprints, such as Independent Bookstore Day, Indies First, Banned Books Week etc.
**Preferred candidates**
Preferred candidates must be an excellent writer and will have a strong understanding of the bookselling landscape as well as confidence with launching and tracking campaigns. Additional qualifications include:
+ 2-3+ years of marketing experience in book publishing or related field
+ Proven success in campaign planning, digital marketing, and/or social media strategy
+ Experience with and/or a passion for independent bookstores
+ Experience managing social media campaign and content creation strongly preferred
+ Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
+ Confidence in presenting to internal and external stakeholders
+ Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp, social media platforms, as well as general computer skills.
+ An eye for design, with graphic design experience—InDesign, Canva, etc. a plus
+ Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and versatile to handle a range of projects
+ Understanding of the ever-evolving bookselling/publishing landscape

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
