The use of data in marketing operations is a key component of any Digital Strategy today. At Xbox, we have millions of active players who we need to drive personalized and contextualized marketing messaging to them.
The **Marketing Data Engineer, Xbox** will lead the development of our Customer Data infrastructure to support our Marketing Technology tools and channels. This role requires a deep understanding of modern database infrastructure strategy, Asure cloud best practices, connectivity of data to other technologies & toolsets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and building data management solutions at a similar sized company and consumer market. Solid communication & collaboration skillsets will be absolutely needed to manage relationships with data partner teams and engineering groups.
**Responsibilities**
+ Develop a strategy on how best to build our Customer Data Platform (CDP) and marketing data approach for Xbox Marketing.
+ Lead a team of data engineers as part of our vendor agency in designing and implementing this strategy, connecting data pipelines and architectures for both production-level audience data and reporting and performance metrics.
+ Collaborate with other data leaders on partner teams on the best architecture strategy to meet both company and marketing team needs.
+ Set up the day-to-day operational process that will manage marketing audiences and personalization data and its communication to the end-use toolsets.
+ Ensure data integrity and safety by complying with all applicable policies and best practices for handling data.
+ Work with Analysts on a data structure that supports both Owned and Paid channels for reporting measures and KPI’s, and support on new data model injection as requested from business stakeholders.
**Qualifications**
**Required/minimum qualifications**
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ yrs experience in Big Data architecture and modern cloud service platforms.
+ 2+ yrs experience in data engineering languages like SQL, Python, and others.
+ 1+ yrs experience working with Extraction Transform Load (ETLs) protocol and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for the use of transferring data between systems.
**Additional or preferred qualifications**
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years experience with data governance, data compliance and/or data security.
+ Demonstrated experience with implementing AI on applied problems to save time and/or steps on common, repeatable tasks.
+ Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in marketing automation, and AI
+ Analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets.
+ Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
+ Ability to make complex data management concepts clearly understood, and effectively explain to leadership what is important and why.
+ Motivation and positive energy on tackling complex data topics in a matrixed organization.
Data Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
