Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Production, the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator joins a dynamic, student-centered department and production team. Working with the Chair of Theatre and Dance and Assistant Production Manager, the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for marketing, branding, audience cultivation, and community engagement for our department’s recruitment activities, events and productions. A typical 14-week semester includes three mainstage productions, three studio productions, several recruitment events, and class-based and student-led performance projects. Also, the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator works with faculty stakeholders to ensure cohesive recruitment materials and messaging.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement a cohesive marketing and outreach strategy for the Department to connect with potential students and build audiences and community engagement.
Develop a cohesive visual brand for all published (printed & online) materials for the Department.
Create and update online presence for the department and maintain websites in collaboration with University Communications.
Create and execute marketing timelines for each production to increase audiences.
Develop and execute outreach strategies including newsletters, outreach events, community partnerships, and other initiatives.
Track and report on engagement analytics and use data to inform strategies and approach.
Create digital and printed materials for shows and events including flyers, digital assets, event calendars, programs/playbills, etc.
With faculty stakeholders, create digital and printed materials for recruitment including banners, curriculum one-sheets, and promotional items.
Act as liaison for all Front of House activity, working with CART Performance Operations (CPO) to provide ticket info, seat counts, usher and house management needs.
Ensure accuracy of all performance related materials across all MSU platforms including: TIX, 25Live, Engage.
Supervise Marketing Graduate Assistant and undergraduate social media work study students in creating, distributing and posting digital content.
Ensure the maintenance of departmental photo/video archives.
Work with Assistant Production Manager and CPO Facilities Manager to schedule space and materials for on campus activity.
Work proactively and cooperatively with faculty and staff to ensure the success of productions and recruitment events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum three years of experience in marketing or communications in theatrical and/or event production environments.
Demonstrated ability to build and execute marketing campaigns and outreach strategies.
Proficiency with graphic design tools (i.e. Canva, Adobe Suite etc.) and basic video editing tools (iMovie, CapCut, Adobe, etc.).
Proficiency with Mail Chimp and/or other direct e-marketing tools.
Familiarity with MS Office and Google Suite, and the ability to learn new software as needed.
Social media management experience.
Ability to collect and analyze audience engagement analytics.
Experience, ability and commitment to creating a working environment that is supportive, open, and respectful.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED:
Experience working with Musical Theatre, Theatre and/or Dance organizations or educational environments.
Experience supervising student workers.
