**About Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL):** Founded in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and rebranded to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002, SBL began commercial operations in 1996 with a brewery in Dar es Salaam. Acquired by EABL in October 2010, SBL now operates breweries in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Moshi. The flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager alongside other portfolios like Guinness and Plisner. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL also distributes world-class global Diageo spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey’s Irish Cream®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey®, and Gilbeys Gin®.
**About the role:**
The Market Manager, Agriculture Development fosters an environment of growth and collaboration within the team. They ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and uphold Diageo's code of business conduct, while nurturing strong partnerships to collaboratively address industry challenges and seize opportunities.
By integrating agricultural expertise with strategic business management, they play a vital role in maintaining our organization's competitiveness and success in a dynamic marketplace. **Role Responsibilities:**
+ **Innovative Strategy Development:** Craft sourcing and category management strategies that are efficient and inclusive, ensuring security of local raw material supply with a focus on quality delivered on time.
+ **Supplier Diversity & Empowerment:** Partner with diverse vendors and suppliers, encouraging relationships that empower them to thrive. Develop strategies to support supplier growth and sustainability.
+ **Collaborative Relationships:** Build positive partnerships with key suppliers to ensure reliability, sustainability, and mutual success.
+ **Strategic Negotiations:** Negotiate contracts aligning with Diageo’s objectives while promoting fair practices. Analyze procurement costs to identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
+ **Market Insight & Risk Mitigation:** Conduct detailed market research to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and shifts in negotiating power. Develop proactive strategies for balanced long-term deals.
+ **Digital Innovation & Traceability:** Utilize digital farming platforms to support smallholder farmers with accurate records, ensuring traceability in sourcing regions.
+ **Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives:** Lead regenerative agriculture projects collaboratively across teams. Coordinate farmer engagement workshops and training sessions to equip local smallholder farmers for profitability.
+ **Stakeholder Engagement:** Map key stakeholders effectively and implement comprehensive engagement plans that reflect our commitment to inclusive practices.
**Experience / skills required:**
To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position, showcasing agility and strong business acumen. They must possess a solid understanding of agriculture value chains, agribusiness finance, and Climate Smart Agriculture within the Tanzanian context. Experience in developing and implementing agriculture category strategies is essential, along with outstanding communication and influencing skills to effectively partner with multiple stakeholders at various levels. A proven track record in analyzing and solving problems is crucial, as is demonstrated ability in farmer engagement, training, and capacity building. Candidates should hold a university degree in agricultural sciences complemented by additional skills in agribusiness management. A master’s degree will be considered an added advantage for those looking to excel further in this dynamic field.
