The Butler Sales department implements strategies to achieve sustainable financial results, maintain and grow customer accounts, and lead the alignment
of the Sales group to the structure of the regional defined business systems.
Position Summary – Market Development Manager
The Market Development Manager plays a critical role in expanding the company’s conventional construction sales channel across our brands. Acting as the primary sales leader for conventional opportunities, this individual serves as the key liaison between BlueScope Conventional Steel Services (BCSS) and our brand-aligned builders.
This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, implementing strategic sales initiatives, and cultivating strong builder relationships. The Market Development Manager will champion efforts to increase market share, enhance customer engagement, and elevate BlueScope’s presence and influence within the builder community.
Deliver the BCSS value proposition to brand builders to ensure builders awareness and revenue in Conventional sales meets target. This is accomplished through targeted individual meetings with builders and presentations at brand quarterly and annual builder sales meetings.Understand and drive the BCSS position in the marketplace assigned relative to competitors, products and services, and industry trends.Report market intelligence to BCSS to ensure competitiveness. Act as a trusted advisor to qualify projects as BCSS or brand managed projects and guide decisions to maximize the best option for the project and customer.Work with brand leadership to develop key opportunities list within the current builder network to increase BCSS awareness and revenue. Work with identified builders to create a preference and/or develop a market for conventional business.Develop a sales strategy plan to achieve BCSS revenue goals, objectives, and targets for assigned brand builders by specific deliverable dates.Drive and execute marketing and advertising programs to targeted markets or accounts within the territory.Assist Business Development Managers in recruitment of builders in alignment with company strategies from Market Intelligence, driving high value builders into the network.Qualifications:
College degree in Business, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience
7–10 years of relevant industry experience
High level presentation skills
Background in construction industry sales, with an emphasis on both conventional and pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) systems
Strong understanding of conventional construction methods and sales strategies
Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus
