Marine Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled marine mechanic to work on pleasure crafts, specializing in inboard and outboard motors, both diesel and gas. The role involves disassembly and reassembly, diagnostics, service work, electrical tasks, engine rebuilds, and propeller changes. You will be working primarily on Volvo, Mercury, and Yamaha motors, utilizing tools such as an SDCB propane forklift and a 20-tonne manual hoist. This position focuses solely on mechanical and electrical servicing.

ResponsibilitiesDisassemble and reassemble marine engines.Perform diagnostics and service work on inboard and outboard motors.Conduct electrical work, varying from boat to boat.Rebuild engines and change propellers.Operate SDCB propane forklift and use manual hoist.Work independently, managing daily work orders efficiently.Essential Skills2+ years of experience working on marine motors.Proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of inboard and outboard motors.Possession of own vehicle and basic toolkit.Physical capability to lift, bend, crouch, and stand throughout the shift.Additional Skills & QualificationsMarine Technician Ticket or equivalent qualifications.5+ years of experience is preferred.Completion of marine technician course is advantageous.Forklift ticket (SDCB) or willingness to obtain one.First aid certification.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is a small but busy shop located on the Fraser River, equipped with an office, workshop, and storage for customer boats. The team aims for a total of six employees, with a current team of 2.5 members. The culture is easygoing, focusing on task completion. The role requires steel-toed shoes, with shifts running Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
