Description
As a Marine Crane Designer- SME, you'll spearhead the development, evaluation and implementation of marine cranes servicing the Royal Canadian Navy's fleet of non-combatant vessels. Your extensive technical knowledge in Marine spaces will be vital for ensuring the development of solutions that meet the needs of the Royal Canadian Navy's marine lifting operations.
Some of your key responsibilities:
· Provide specialized input on the selection and deployment strategies across marine and offshore operational contexts.
· Formulate and implement asset maintenance protocols to optimize operational reliability and lifespan.
· Work cross-functionally with technical and field teams to evolve system architectures aligned with project requirements and saftery standards.
· Identify the Requirement Set applicable to 3T & 20T Crane systems in support of an RFP (Request for Proposal).
· Develop and derive requirement sets for marine crane systems.
· Review vendor submissions for technical compliance within defined project requirements.
· Contribute to System Requirement Reconciliation (SRR) activities to establish baseline project requirement sets.
· Develop IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification) plans for baseline requirement sets.
· Provide technical insight during early-stage planning, supporting risk mitigation and compliance assessments.
· Draft and contribute to technical documentation, including reports, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Ensure engineering outputs adhere to relevant international maritime standards and classification protocols.
· Assist in the development of client-facing technical packages and cost models for solution proposals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or Technical diploma in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
· Strong experience in requirements development and IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification) of cranes.
· In-depth knowledge of marine crane technologies, operational practices, and safety legislation.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams.
· Language: English (Essential) - Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $120.00/hr.
